You don't open it. You don't even get up. You know exactly who it is, why your heart is racing, and why you must not - on any account - open the door. Another knock sounds through the silence. You remind yourself to breathe. Find this blurb on Pinterest .

No one could argue that his garden wasn't the finest in the area. And no one did. Every year, the flowers seemed more vibrant, more lush, and more fragrant than the year before. Although no one ever saw Mr. McHenry in his garden, it never seemed unkempt. That's why the first weeds were immediately noticed, followed by browning leaves and wilting petals. When he drew the hands, hypothetically pulling the paper open, he hadn't expected anyone on the other side to find the opening. To be honest, he hadn't expected anyone on the other side at all. But she wasn't just anyone, was she? Find this blurb on Pinterest ! Art: (c) Ramon Bruin.

Alice didn't go to the funeral; she visited later, when no one would be there to see. She hadn't expected anyone else to have the same idea. From a spot not far away, she watched him carefully place a bouquet of yellow tulips against the headstone. The chief of police certainly knew the villain well. Find this blurb on Pinterest !

"Ryan!" The earth, supposedly so solid, gave way beneath him, leaving him dangled on the edge of a collapsing cliff.  "I told you we should have brought those climbing supplies," he said, grunting as his right hand searched for a more secure hold.  Kneeling above him, she asked, "Are you okay?"  "Ask me when I'm not hanging off a cliff." "Hey!" She lowered her camera, squinting at one of the dilapidated windows. "Hey, you!" She stepped forward, cautiously, until she saw him, just sitting there and watching. "No one's s'pposed to be here," he said. She shrugged. "Well, you're here." Find this blurb on Pinterest ! Photo: Pasha (c) Мария Петрова .

"You're going to shoot me, Sarah?" he asked, wiping the mud from his face.  "No more tricks. No more stupid fights. It's over," she said, switching off the safety.  He waited and she waited. Perhaps she hoped he would drop dead of his own accord and save her the pain of shooting him herself. Find this blurb on Pinterest ! Photo: (c) Nikki Lane.

Master of Birds by Rene Aigner She never spoke. He supposed the biggest reason for that was the cumbersome mask that covered the majority of her face. There were few precious moments when her eyes could tell him enough - they sparkled when she might have laughed, drooped in disappointment, and narrowed with dissatisfaction. He could read her when no one else could, which was why she chose him as her lieutenant. And he loved her. Find this blurb on Pinterest !

It wasn't as though the two worlds, so to speak, had never communicated. But, when that wall came down, it was truly the meeting of two alien cultures. Suddenly, there was no wall, no obstruction, and he could see houses - normal houses, normal neighbors, normal gardens... But the mystery of the wall nagged at him. Why force such an unnecessary separation? Find this blurb on Pinterest ! Prompt: (c) Promptuarium .

The stairs rose from the darkness of the canopy, illuminated only by a spare sunbeam. Few knew exactly where the gilded steps led; few returned from the pilgrimage. Some said the destination was different for everyone, but none knew how it was chosen. Find this blurb on Pinterest ! Art: (c) inSahne, DeviantArt.

Day One: My Brain Outlet

Image
Let me start by saying I'm really not one for diaries or journals. I find it hard to open up, even if no one's reading. But I truly have a writer's brain - there isn't a single moment I'm not narrating my life, listing out things to remember, or envisioning a story I'm working on. Sure, I have notebooks. I have plenty of notebooks. I'll probably buy more notebooks at the next opportunity. My brain jumps around faster than a pencil; the only time I genuinely write in a notebook is during the drafting process. Or when I'm writing lists. Have I mentioned I'm a heavy lister? I decided I need a 'brain outlet,' something that I can dump all of my thoughts into - my research, my character naming jaunts, my blurbs, my daily mini-obsessions (documentaries, anyone?), and my creative juices for the day. Amid all the individual tastes of my mind, here you'll find writing prompts, lists, character creations, a glimpse at my writing proc...
